Aimi’s 3 Peaks Challenge

This trip is combined with Aimi tackling the infamous 3 Peaks Challenge. Shes also taking on doing it within 24 hours, a massive personal challenge that shes been training for for some time.

Shes been ramping up the walk distances, work outs and running each day throughout the summer to be ready for it. She has some nerves about how hard is going to be. And yes it is going to be hard but I know she’s determined, fit and as long as she doesn’t throw a hissy fit like she did on Ben Lomond last weekend, she will be fine!

Wedding Dress Deliberations

Our Celebrant, Ashton, made a comment to us that the registrar’s office would be “open to accept documents in February…” which caught us off guard.

February is just the other side of Christmas…

And that’s only a few months away…

Suddenly it was clear we needed to start organising stuff!

Ben Lomond Bitching

Aimi is up to Glasgow visiting me at work for the first time… it only took a year to get her up here. The main attraction wasn’t spending time with me, or visiting a new city, or seeing what I’m working on. It was to climb Ben Lomond, which I’ve proclaimed widely is my favourite mountain walk in the UK to date.

This is also the last big walk that Aimi is allowed to do before the 3 Peaks Challenge she is doing next weekend. Shes in top condition, worked hard and knows the mountains, so this one shouldn’t be an issue right?

It’s a wonderfully painful reminder of how much I used to motorbike and how little I have done recently that I’m in this much pain. Since becoming a chubby van dweller, I’ve allowed myself to enjoy, and become used to, a vans comforts.

For Sale: Ducati Multistrada 1000DS

In regular use for local rides into the peaks so mileage may increase a little till sold.

Love this bike, especially the torque for the roll on lazy power out of corners. Literally nothing like a big V Twin to put a smile on your face every single ride, especially with the loud and rude exhaust!

Will suit a taller rider who is moving up from a 600 and wants a bit more oomph but still an aggressive sporty ride. This is not a soft bike like the tracer or tiger, its an engaging ride full of Ducati charm!

She’s in good condition for her age. Not in a rush to sell, but I’ve had her 4 years and fancy a change.

007 Foot Trauma

We found out last night from our waitress why we have been having trouble on this trip. The hotel we stayed at, the coffee bothy, the seafood restaurant, the crafts and things cafe and now the local gathering pub in Glencoe all have staffing problems. There just isn’t enough (willing) people to fill the available positions in the hospitality sector.

Today we went back to Wolftrax, our favourite bike park in… well actually I’m happy to just say it’s my favourite. Aimi agrees with whatever I say…

Duck Duck Duck Otter

Not often do I actually set out on a pursuit where the pursuit itself is to spot nature things doing nature things. Wildlife spotting is something I enjoy doing as part of other activities. For example, while biking up a hill you might see mice or birds dart out the way. Maybe when you get to the top and recover your breath, you appreciate the view and see a buzzard floating around in the valley beneath you. Or while sipping coffee and chatting, you see the birds doing relay races back and forward to the feeders on the window.

And that pretty much summed up our day today.
