Sweaty Bags

I hope I get used to this heat. My word, its sticky. My whole body is just coated and stuck to every other part of my body. I don’t remember it being this hot last time i was here, but that was the other end of the year, the dry season. We are here during rainy season. Might as well be called sweaty season!

Timezone Hopping

This blog entry is going to run into trouble because through its course I’ll be writing from 3 separate timezones. The UK, Denmark and Thailand. So I’m going to just capture all the airplane travelly bits in this one, and start the next when we land in Bangkok.

Deal?

Travel Begins

We are organised people so we have made sure we have plenty of time to get the house organised after the mania of the last 2 weeks. Get things washed and put away, kitchen cleaned and fridge cleared. Take the bins out. You know, all the usual things you need to do before leaving the house for any length of time.

Except Aimi gets it all done in double quick time and then starts doing things like unplugging sockets that are turned off, and running a part filled dishwasher to get it done, so then we have to wash up our lunch plates by hand…

Pack Up And Push Off

We had borrowed a lot of kit from the scouts to reduce the cost of hiring lots of chairs and tables at the party. It will probably cost us the same overall but at least some of the money will go to the scouts and support their activities.

The “Not A Wedding” Party

The family part of our wedding celebrations arrived, and for a long time Aimi was insistent that this was not a wedding. We didn’t want to do all the speeches and cake cutting traditional stuff, it was just an excuse to get together with family and friends and have a good time in the sun getting pissed.

Following Us Home

Well the day to leave has come at last and since we had spent the previous evening packing up there was not much to do, but leave.

We put everything in the cars did a final sweep of the house enjoying it for the last time and then head on out.

Packing in the Touristing

Today is the last day we get to pretend to be Lairds of the Highlands. So this is also the last day we can go souvenir shopping and sightseeing.

Chill Out

After our incredible wedding day and then an epic adventure yesterday, we need a more relaxed day today. We also had to return the Landrover to Inverness so after breakfast Aimi and I set off to do that.

Stags And Crags

My first morning as a married man started by me burning the croissants that Hannah had brought. Using an Aga takes a bit of practice it turns out. But after people had found food I hadn’t turned to charcoal, we head off to the coffee bothy again. Kevin and Sonya had kindly offered to show us their Highland coos.

Our Wedding Day

We have been up north for 4 days now and it’s been glorious every day. Barely a drizzle to dampen our mood. But obviously we have been checking the forecast for today for a long time and as it’s gotten closer it’s been more consistently saying it will be constant rain all day… and then, of course, the week following today is going to be glorious sun again.

Sure enough, as we rose this morning and had a little kiss, we could see the misty rain pouring down on the loch outside our window. Oh well, the house we are staying in is glorious so I’d not be disappointed to be married here. Then Aimi kicked me out of the bedroom.
