Not much planned for today, basically just packed and then sat by the pool. It was the only time, for the whole holiday, I really got to do nothing. I’ve no idea how people do it… Its frikin hot sitting around in the sun! It took me about 5 minutes before I was roasting hot and had to jump into the pool.
Trad Breakfast Trad Beach
Our chance encounter with Gen and Harry meant we were doing lots more on our holiday than we probably would have otherwise. This holiday had planned to be about 50/50 tours, excursions and activities to lazing around by the pool getting a tan and drinking.
I know I would have gotten bored just laying around, its not my normal state of being. But I had kinda wanted to get bored, so I could find out what it was like to go on a holiday to get bored…. Guaranteed as soon as I WAS bored, I would have collared the TUI rep and booked more stuff to do… but that’s not the point.
Ghost Village Escape
Today’s tour started by driving back up the hill we had taken to The Olive Garden yesterday… I wasn’t best impressed, but we had booked this tour to see the ghost village so stuck with it while the bus stopped at several laybys for photo stops… Everyone piled out and had a go at taking a better photo than the one they had seen in the brochure when booking the holiday…
Infinity Olives
Gen, Harry, Mum, Dad, Grandad and Great Auntie (say that three times fast) had rented a villa in Hisaronu, just up the road from our hotel. With a private pool, newly built and close to town, it was very nice. Harry and I jumped in and fully flooded the patio chasing each other around on the floats. We didn’t get to enjoy the pool for long however, the sky clouded over and threatened a dreary day.
Return To Diving
I had to lie a bit.. But I did manage to get Genevieve to turn up to an appointment early. Our transfer was at 8.20 am. So I told Harry it was at 8.00 am. And he told Gen they had to leave their apartment that’s 20 mins away, at 7.00 am. Finally, we have found the winning formula!
Dalyan Discovery Day
For what is supposed to be a relaxing holiday, today was very busy. So much stuff packed into one day!
Turkish Coincidence
It was the first day of an entirely new way of traveling holidaying. It’s so far from my version of travelling but I’m willing to give it a go. After breakfast we met our holiday rep, Charlie. She talked us through various excursions we could do and we booked a few.
Peds in the Med
Last night a plan had been formulated.
Man-Mer-Monster-Maid
The night ended at 3 am with us staggering back up the hill other drunken English lads were rolling down. We had decided to end on a high and not drag it out into the early hours. I stuck with David, maintaining my oath to ensure he wasn’t getting into any trouble or hurt only a few weeks before the Big Day. Other lads carried on the night and next morning , barely made it down to breakfast in time. They looked rough as heck and were not in a good way for today’s activity.
Magaluf Mash-Up
As the Best Man, I have 3 jobs.
- Get the Groom and Ring to the wedding on time and in one piece.
- Deliver a funny yet scathing speech
- Organise the Stag Party
Number 1 and 2 were a long way off back in January when I was planning number 3 on the list. Davids friends are…. (searches for an accurate but minimally insulting description)…. a roudy bunch. It was soon settled that a suitably roudy trip to Magaluf was in order. After some planning, booking, herding cats, scheming and bribing, the trip was on.
