Breakfast should not be this many colours. Honestly, who thought radioactive blue was an appetising colour? Let alone green, red and yellow. And I don’t care how many times you tell me they are “naturally flavoured” they still taste like someone else’s old chewing gum.

Banff Hotel Cache

Today we went wandering around Banff. They have pretty much every outdoors clothing brand here and even a Smartwool shop which sent Aimi a bit mad.

RV-ing

OMFG this thing is massive. And ours isnt even the largest one. Its actually considered a small RV!

Badlands Hoodoo’s

Up and out for a “short” 2 hour drive to our first stop, Horseshoe canyon. The roads are so long straight, wide and featureless people must go into a trance to call a 2 hour drive “short”. But it was worth it.

Exploring Calgary

This morning passed working from the laptop until it was time to set off for lunch at Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant. This beautiful brick built building sits alone in a field of a city park, protected from encroaching development. It’s old, by Calgary standards, giving it some character.

Elbow Falls

Lazy start today, but thanks to being woken at 5am by a phone call, I’m still feeling the effects of jetlag. I think the dry and somewhat smoky air is also affecting my sleep as I’m waking up with headaches and a really bunged up nose. Lovely things to read about in a blog…

Head Smashed In – Buffalo Jump

As we approach what looks remarkably like a peak district edge, a concrete bunker pokes out of the landscape. It looks like a James Bond villains lair, but actually contains a cleverly hidden museum about this fascinating UNESCO world heritage site; Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump.

Greedy Donuts New Hat

We both still rose early thanks to the jet-lag but the longest of days still gave us the longest night sleep. Waking early we were both so tired we just turned over and, with my audio book in my ear as a sedative, went straight back to sleep.

Getting Further From Canada

We got a deal including parking so started our holiday early with a wonderful dinner and stay at a hotel near the airport. My faith in the chef was rewarded, the mackerel starter and seabass main I had were both incredible. Tasty 241 cocktails followed before early-ish to bed ready for our lift to the airport. Once again Aimi wanted to be REALLY early but its an excuse for a relaxed breakfast where I ordered way too much!

No Puppy Paddling

Who’d have thought 3 pints after a hot walk would have been a bad idea? I had to admit that this morning I felt a little hung over, but it was worth it.
