DOACC: Over-cab Locker pt.2

Diary Of A Camper Conversion

Glue now dried, I’m very impressed with just how securly these bits of wood are stuck on! I’m confident they will stay in place forever!

I can now use them to screw into and secure the end panels. But first I need to fill everywhere with insulation, and then cover it all with vapour barrier.

This is the section where my vapour barrier will be compromised. There is no way I can get right up to the metal by the windscreen to attach and thereby separate it from the living and breathing side of the van. This may be where my vapour barrier lets in moisture and actually traps it in place rather than letting the van breath. Will this cause me problems in future?

The best scenario I can think of is actually to section it off from the vapour barrier in the rest of the van. If condensation does get up into the insulation over the cab, then atleast it can’t get any further back into the van. This means I’ll also be inadvertently testing the differences between sealed and partially sealed vapour barrier systems.

After wrestling with the black plastic for 20 mins, and using lots more tape, it’s in and i can push the hardboard into place. This was a bit of a struggle, but some brute force and screws got it into place. Finally my locker is boarded out and ready for carpet and the front face.
