Diary Of A Camper Conversion
Wow today, I achieved a lot. Well, it looks like I achieved a lot. It’s been in progress for several weeks but today its all come together for one wall.
First I finished off the roof surrounding the skylight at the rear. Insulation went in, lots more tape to put in the vapour barrier, and then hardboard to continue through to the rear doors. This area is now ready and waiting for carpet… And electrics… And lights… And the central feature board… There is still a lot to do, but it’s reached a landmark. I even got the plastic trims back on.

Now to work out the wall boarding.
I had previously gotten very excited one day and created the top most boards, including their phone charging nooks, and a carefully created shape to allow the board to sit as flush as possible to the chassis. It just needed a few additional holes and slots to cope with the electrical conduit.
I also created a small frame in the lower part of the wall to secure some of the original boarding. I could not be bothered to work out how to cut out the wheel arch shape.
Once I had all boards ready, it was time to get the rest of the vapour barrier into the van. Concentrating on one side, even more tape was applied to join it with the previous piece and to the chassis. I’m glad I left a wrinkle of extra sheeting becuase when I offered up the boards it all went tight. I’ll remember to leave a little more slack on the other side.

I ended the day with a whole wall complete and ready for carpet and cabinets. This also means the van is a little more empty of boards so I’ve got easier access to do the floor.
