I’m as far as I can go with the bed cabinets so now it’s time to build the sink side of the van. This is one long run of cabinets from front to back but here is a strange metal wobbly bit in the middle of the van. This means I’m going to make it in two sections, starting with the bed end, so at least we have that operational.
Once again I set up my computer with the 3D model in the shed and set about measuring off the parts I needed to make. I’m using 18mm ply for the carcass spacing pieces. This is because they have a decent depth to them that will hold a pocket screw well. So these various lengths all needed jig drilling.

Each time I need to make a part, I measure it off on the 3D model, write it on a post-it note and then walk outside to cut the strip, or trim a panel. This has been working great until I put the wrong cut out on the wrong corner. Luckily, this can be deliberate-ised by calling it a “cable routing cut out” before swiftly moving the conversation along to…

Sanding everything off is a bit of a pain, but I really want this to look professional. It only took a short time but my fingers were buzzing by the end. I could then glue 2 square section timbers to 2 of the panels ready for tomorrow

Today is also the day my air conditioning unit turned up from China. It’s taken 2 months and travelled half way around the globe to be literally dropped over my gate by an incompetent driver driver. And now I have a broken fan housing. Damnit!
